Update from the London Midland site:

Update 1100hrs, 3 February 2012

Due to a freight locomotive having derailed at Bletchley overnight, the Euston line is currently blocked. Virgin Trains, Southern and London Midland are therefore unable to run between Milton Keynes and London until the line is cleared. Engineers are on site and hope to have made repairs by around 1300hrs.

We strongly advise passengers not to travel on the Euston line this morning and are extremely sorry for the obvious inconvenience.

Alternatives

If you must travel we have organised for London Midland tickets to be accepted as follows:

  • Birmingham Snow Hill - London Marylebone (Chiltern Railways)
  • Bicester North – London Marylebone (Chiltern Railways)
  • Aylesbury – Wendover – London Marylebone (Chiltern Railways)
  • Birmingham New St – Nuneaton – Leicester (Cross Country)
  • Leicester – Wellingborough – London St Pancras (East Midlands Trains)
  • Bedford – Luton – St Albans – London St Pancras (First Capital Connect)
  • Birmingham New St – Coventry – Reading (Cross Country)
  • Reading – London Paddington (First Great Western)

You will also be able to use your rail ticket on London Underground to transfer between the alternative London termini.

If you are trying to get over to the St Pancras line, we are still able to run trains from Bletchley to Bedford, and from Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey.

Rail replacement coach services

Coach and bus operators are struggling to provide vehicles for us due to school commitments this morning, so we are unable to provide any alternative road transport. However, there may be scheduled bus services from your local station. Check travelinefor details.

Train services

We are working with Virgin Trains to run a very limited service between Tring and Euston using the few trains that were stabled in London overnight. West Midlands/Crewe to London services will also only run as far as Northampton

  • Northampton – Milton Keynes Central
    xx.25 / xx.55 Northampton-Milton Keynes
    xx.15 / xx.45 Milton Keynes-Northampton
  • Tring – Watford Junction (calling at all stations)
    xx.04 / xx.34 Tring-Watford
    xx23 / xx.53 Watford-Tring
  • Tring - London Euston (Virgin Trains – calling all stations to Watford)
    xx.25 / xx.55 Tring-Euston
    xx.00 / xx.30 Euston-Tring
  • Watford Junction – Bushey – Harrow – London Euston (Overground)

We hope that services north of Northampton will be able to run with minimal delays, although this will be reliant on trains and traincrew being available in the right place at the right time.
