A parade to commemorate the Birth of Mohammad will take place in High Wycombe this Sunday, 27th January. Between 1100 and 1400.

Roads will only be closed as long as required to enable the parade to pass through and no details are known of exactly which time each road will be closed. As this will only be for a short period, buses should remain on normal route and await re-opening of any roads closed to them.

Staff Notice–Overloading and Standing passengers

Following on from a meeting that I had with Hertfordshire police on Wednesday, they informed me that they will be rigorously pursuing action against bus operators for overloading offences, especially where they see passengers standing at the front of the buses. They have asked that we work together to warn the operators of this and of course head off any bad press/prosecutions caused by operators overloading or allowing passengers to stand up at the front of the buses.

I have therefore asked my team to e-mail this note to all operators on our tender list ASAP

Could I ask you also to circulate this to all of your HBCOA members as matter of urgency

Hertfordshire police have notified us that they will be taking action against any operator overloading their vehicles by contravening schedule 7.-(1) of The Public Service Vehicles (Carrying Capacity) Regulations 1984.

They have also indicated they will take action against any company who permits passengers to stand in the front of a vehicle. In The Public Service Vehicles (Carrying Capacity) Regulations 1984 schedule 7.-(2) (b)  this is forward of the rearmost part of the drivers seat, so that the driver must have a clear view of the front nearside screen, front doors and nearside mirror at all times.

Please can you instruct your drivers of this as a matter of urgency and make sure you indicate on your buses that no standing shall occur beyond that point.
