Route 300
Route 300 was “relaunched” last saturday as PlatinumMK300.
Nothing much else has changed to the route apart from some new Mercedes Buses that are now on the road.
You can find out more about PlatinumMK on either the councils website or ARRIVA’s Minisite

They look nice, but I had a ride on Sunday and the 2+1 seating is a bit poorly executed, with the window seat shoved hard up against the side wall and the armrest constraining backside room. I believe it’s a standard Merc design (same as those on Southern Vectis), and I generally really like the idea of 2+1 in a larger bus over 2+2 in a smaller one, but if it was the best that could be done the traditional 2+2 layout would have been preferable.
Would be nice if they could add a GPS-driven next stop display. These are one of the most powerful tools available to attract users unfamilar with a bus route by removing doubt about where to get off!
I see in the Council’s publicity a talk of the “MK Star Network”, which is a term I hadn’t heard before, though I believe routes 4, 5 and 8 at least form part of the concept. More upgrades coming, I wonder?

Hmm… shiny. I love the lime green. I look forward to a daytime picture
As for the mirrors, not many Citaros carry them for that long. Few companies actually replace them with the original style ones either, so most Citaros have thiner “sticks” holding them on fairly soon! First London have put original style, bright yellow ones back on their Citaros, they look ridiculous!
Talking of Southern Vectis, being a very rural operation, it was a matter of days before the first mirror was lost apparently, a huge lorry ripped one of the offside ones off!

I saw one yesterday morning going past willen lake, look like nice busses.
On a side note, the driver of the number 7 last night (6pm depature from the food centre) could bearly speak english and kept asking me for directions, he nearly missed conniburrow and the turning into stantonbury, he said it was his “first time do it”!! Maybe arrivia can spend more on drivers than new busses.
